Finally we had had enough. From Khodoo Aral we headed north up the continuation of the Khodoo Aral steppe towards the town of Tsenkher Mandal and the famous Kok Nuur, or Blue Lake.

Kok Nuur: The Blue Lake of the Black Heart Mountain. Kok Nuur: This is where Temujin was first proclaimed Chingis Khan in 1189.

 

On August 29th, a day after the Khodoo Aral shingdig, a new monument to Chingis was unveiled at Kok Nuur. Shown here is Ugtaabayar, the artist who, along with his students, created the monument.
