From Amarbuyant Monastery to Shar Khuls Oasis by Camel

Following the Route of the 13th Dalai Lama

The Dalai Lama stayed here for 10 days in the Fall of 1904 after he fled Tibet in the wake of the English Invasion.

From Amarbuyant to Shar Khuls is 105 miles by camel. In the opinion of local herdsmen this is the same route the Dalai Lama used.

The Dalai Lama camped here on his way to Amarbuyant. Monks from Amarbuyant came here and accompanied him to the monastery.

We continued on by camel 62 miles to Ekhin Gol, where we were met by a jeep.
