Wurzburg

Wurzburg, nestled on the banks of the River Main in northern Bavaria, has been a thriving city for at least 1200 years. The downtown area was largely leveled by Allied bombing on the night of March 16, 1945, but many of the historical landmarks have now been restored. The Wurzburg area has always been famous for its wines, mostly Rieslings and Sylvaners, and hosts several big wine festivals each year.
